Terms of use (or terms of service) are the legal agreement between an organization that offers a website and/or mobile app and each user of the website or app. Carefully-drafted of terms of use clarify expectations and help an organization prevent disputes with customers, consumers and others. Many organizations still, however, produce ambiguous terms of use filled with legalese and boiler-plate provisions that are not carefully tailored to the particular website or mobile app’s offerings. This course will focus on key provisions and common mistakes when drafting terms of use (or terms of service) for a U.S.-based website and/or mobile application.
