Marialuisa (ML) Gallozzi is a partner in the insurance coverage practice of Covington & Burling LLP, where she serves as lead counsel for policyholders in resolving complex, high-value insurance coverage claims. ML has extensive experience across a wide range of first- and third-party coverages. By using practical and efficient strategies she has recovered over half a billion dollars under a variety of coverages including property/business interruption, D&O, cyber, and product recall.

ML has long had an interest in emerging risks and risk mitigation strategies. Coverage for cyber risks has been a major part of ML’s practice for over 10 years. She has represented clients seeking coverage for some of the largest and most widespread cyber losses in history, including ransomware, double extortion, business email compromise, and destructive malware. Since 2017, ML has actively focused on the regulation and risks of drone use and mechanisms to mitigate those risks. Her articles on the subject, “Insurance Considerations Amid Increased Use Of Drones”, “Uninsured Flying Objects”, and “Evolving Insurance Coverage For Drone Losses And Liabilities”, were published in Law360 and Best Law Firms. ML has also maintained an active pro bono practice throughout her legal career.

ML’s many professional recognitions include Chambers USA, Business Insurance’s “Women to Watch” and Washington DC Super Lawyers’ “Top 100 Lawyers” and “Top 50 Women Lawyers.” ML received her A.B. from Harvard University and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
