New Mexico CLE Requirements
CLE requirements for New Mexico attorneys.

Required credits
New Mexico attorneys are required to earn 12 credits every year, including 2 credits in Ethics, and 1 credit on Equity in Justice (with the last credit being effective on January 1st, 2024).

  • Due date for CLE: All credits are due by December 31st.
  • Reporting credits: All credits must be reported by February 1st.
  • Reporting attendance: myLawCLE reports attendance to the State Bar of New Mexico.

Self-Study/On-Demand credits
Starting from the compliance year 2024, the self-study cap has been removed. This means that all New Mexico attorneys can now earn their 12 CLE hour requirements through on-demand.

The Rule says, however, that to be eligible for credit “the pre-recorded course must be pre-approved by the board and must include procedures and/or technology that allows the course provider to independently verify an attorney’s attendance and attentiveness during the program.” Rule18-204(c)(2) NMRA.
