Course Overview

HIPAA compliance alone won’t keep the FTC off your client’s docket.

2026-11-03 14:30:00

Extending beyond HIPAA, the Federal Trade Commission’s track record of enforcing AI — and cyber items related to the privacy and security of consumer data — is not to be ignored. This presentation maps the FTC’s trends and the nuances that separate its enforcement from HIPAA’s.

The exposure runs on two tracks. Government enforcement is one; class actions are the other. Both follow from the same core areas on the FTC’s radar, and both concentrate in the potential areas of liability this session identifies.

Attendees leave able to understand the nuances between HIPAA and FTC enforcement, learn the trends and core areas on the FTC’s radar, and grasp the importance of identifying risk and translating the findings into adequate compliance programs — the avenues that reduce the risk of government enforcement and class actions alike.
