Course Overview

Your Written Procedures Are Only as Strong as the Next Callback

2026-11-10 12:00:00

ALTA Best Practices 4.2 updates the standards title and settlement firms rely on to protect transactions, client funds, and sensitive information. The changes reach day-to-day operations, not just the written policy. Firms now need to know which changes to prioritize and where current procedures fall short.

Skip identity verification, and seller impersonation goes undetected. Accept a changed wiring instruction without a callback, and client funds are exposed to wire fraud. Leave vendors unmonitored, and non-public personal information becomes a point of vulnerability. Fail to document compliance, and gaps surface only after something goes wrong.

This program moves from the standards to their implementation through real-world scenarios and common closing breakdowns. Attendees leave with identity-verification procedures, callback and independent-verification protocols, and a process for training staff to escalate red flags. They also gain a framework for documenting compliance, responding to incidents, and testing internal controls for ongoing effectiveness.
