Attorneys will learn how to assess whether a client crosses the proposed 20 MW/60 kV/1 MW registration threshold, how to allocate compliance obligations across multi-party facility structures, and how to build a foundational NERC compliance program for clients with no prior reliability regulatory experience. Attendees will leave able to advise data center owners, operators, tenants, and financiers on immediate risk-mitigation steps before the December 31, 2026 standards-filing deadline.
Jo Ann Biggs 1:10 pm - 2:10 pm ESTThis session examines the federal and state regulatory framework now governing how data centers interconnect to the bulk power grid, with emphasis on FERC’s June 2026 show cause orders, the PJM colocation template, and Texas SB 6’s mandatory curtailment regime. Attorneys will learn how ride-through requirements, curtailment hierarchies, and new transmission service tiers translate into negotiable contract terms and project-level risk. Participants leave with a working framework for advising data center clients on interconnection agreement strategy across multiple RTOs under conditions of active regulatory flux.

Requirements
The Alabama State Bar MCLE Commission requires attorneys to complete 12 credits, including 1 ethics, by December 31 of each year. All credits must be reported by February 15 of the following year. A maximum of 12 credits, including 1 ethics credit, may be carried over for 1 year only.
