Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions, including but not limited to ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease) present a variety of legal issues ranging from the lack of decision making capacity, to care issues (including end of life), to legal documents. For attorneys dealing with clients who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other conditions affecting capacity, navigating representation can be a minefield. Likewise, understanding what exactly decision making capacity is and when a person no longer has that capacity to make different types of decisions ranging from medical to financial and everything in between is critical. The purpose of this webinar is to provide insight from a medical, bioethical, and legal perspective into the issues of decision making capacity, care considerations, and legal documents, including estate planning and different types of powers of attorney as they relate to Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions. MyLawCLE and the Federal Bar Association are fortunate to have Dr. Kass and Ms. Rose, who have co-instructed at Baylor College of Medicine and co-authored on a variety of related topics for various publications for over a decade present on this important topic.
