Program Summary

Session I - The Expressive Attorney: Voice and Body Language – Rena Cook

In this session, participants will learn how to use the voice and body language to more effectively connect with the jury. The training is divided into three subheadings: 1. "Tuning the Voice" includes how to breath for empowered speech, and how to open the mouth for greater clarity and volume. 2. "Catching their Interest" includes techniques for keeping an audience engaged. 3. "Capturing their Hearts" introduces acting techniques for opening the jury's emotional centers to feel what you want them to feel. This workshop is participatory.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Tuning your instrument
  • Catching their interest
  • Capturing their hearts

Session II - The Value of Hiring a “Credible” Attorney – Dr. Steve Wood

Attorney credibility and its influence on courtroom verdicts has been a topic of interest to attorneys for quite some time. Some attorneys believe that their credibility matters, while others believe that only the evidence matters. The purpose of this webinar is to take an in-depth look at the definition of attorney credibility, discuss the ways in which attorney credibility can influence juries and their verdicts, and identify ways in which attorneys are hurting their credibility.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • The definition of credibility – What it is and what it isn’t
  • Highlighting the research on attorney credibility and juror decision-making
  • Identifying the key elements that decrease an attorney’s credibility

Session III - Winning Your Case with a Better Memory – Paul Mellor

Join nationally recognized memory training consultant Paul Mellor for a session that will improve the way your mind retains facts. Learn techniques to improve your memory and learn how to apply these techniques to your everyday practice. Mellor’s objective is to show how a trained memory can increase your efficiency and productivity in all aspects of law. He will shred the myth that memory cannot be enhanced and help you lay a foundation for total recall. When you’re skilled in memory, all your other skills get better.

Key topics to be discussed:

  • Save time in court preparation
  • Make polished presentations to jurors and judges without notes
  • Become a better listener in the courtroom
  • Cross-examine with confidence - no more missed opportunities because your memory failed you
  • Remember names of jurors in trials and clients in other professional settings
  • Develop better concentration
