Why Attend

Why this
program matters

Federal courts are now the front line of immigration defense, and attorneys who cannot navigate habeas petitions, APA claims, and expedited removal challenges risk losing clients to deportation within hours.
8k
habeas petitions challenging immigration detention were filed in federal court in 2025, up from just 222 in 2024.
97%
of decided immigration habeas cases in 2025 resulted in federal judge’s ruling in favor of detained immigrants, across roughly 160 judges in 50 federal courts.
73k
people were held in ICE detention in mid-January 2026, the highest in the agency’s 23-year history and an 84% jump from the prior year — dramatically expanding the universe of clients needing federal court intervention.
2yr
is the new continuous-presence threshold under the January 2025 nationwide expansion of expedited removal, exposing long-term residents anywhere in the U.S. to deportation in 24–48 hours without an immigration judge hearing.
