Session II - Avoiding Written and Oral Sexism – Dov Treiman
Presenter Dov Treiman is both a practicing attorney and a former pastor, two professions that hold in common a need for sensitivity to people’s needs to hear themselves addressed as they are. In this talk, Treiman looks at sloppy speech that is unintentionally sexist and formal writing where one should simply know better. As an author of numerous works, he has a wealth of specific techniques for combatting both conscious and unconscious sexism. Using both legal writings and world literature, he will demonstrate how you can root out the sexism in your work. Unlike courses that cover a variety of subtopics, this one addresses a single issue and provides a number of concrete methods to achieve the goal.
