Why Attend

Why this
program matters

Federal civil litigation is decided at the pretrial stage — mastering motion practice is no longer optional; it is how cases are won and lost.
1%
of all federal civil cases filed today are resolved by trial, meaning the entire outcome of nearly every matter rests on pretrial motion strategy.
77%
of federal Rule 12(b) motions to dismiss are granted under post-Iqbal pleading standards, making drafting and defeating these motions a career-defining skill for civil litigators.
1.1k+
civil jury trials were completed in U.S. district courts in fiscal year 2025, confirming that dispositive pretrial motions have replaced trials as the primary case resolution mechanism.
13.7%
of federal civil cases involve summary judgment motions, averaging 113 days to rule, making alignment of discovery with Rule 56 arguments critical to efficiency
