This CLE will discuss the FCC and Congress’ efforts to adopt rules and regulations for calling parties and voice service providers to create accountability and liability for facilitating unlawful and unwanted phone calls and text messages. We will discuss what’s working, what may not be working and what still needs to be done to address America’s #1 nuisance. We will discuss how the FCC is working with the states and industry to crack down on bad actors. We will also discuss steps voice and text service providers are taking to give customers more control and information to determine which calls to answer and prevent potentially illegal calls and texts from reaching consumers.
