Why Attend

Why this
program matters

Understanding LGBTQ+ estate planning is essential because practitioners must navigate complex legal protections, family dynamics, and political uncertainties to safeguard clients’ assets, relationships, and fundamental rights.
510+
Anti-LGBTQ+ bills were introduced across state legislatures in 2023, nearly triple the number from 2022, creating unprecedented legal uncertainty for LGBTQ+ families. (American Civil Liberties Union via CNN, January 2024)
46%
Of LGBTQ+ young adults are estranged from at least one family member, making estate planning critical to ensure assets pass to chosen beneficiaries rather than biological relatives. (Just Like Us survey of 3,695 adults, April 2023)
56%
Of LGBTQ+ investors with net worth between $100,000 and $1 million have a will, compared to 70% of non-LGBTQ+ investors in the same bracket. (Spectrem Group via Wealth Enhancement Group)
75%
Of married same-sex couples cited legal protections as a key reason for marriage, underscoring the importance of comprehensive estate planning to secure those protections. (Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, September 2024)
