Program Summary

A discussion of recent cases (from 2023 to March, 2025) involving the following issues in a Divorce: Equitable Distribution, Child Custody, Child Support, Spousal Maintenance, Attorney’s Fees. The discussion will focus on Appellate Cases in al four New York State Departments. However, some Supreme Court cases will also be discussed. Case citations will be given. Real world application of the cases will also be discussed.

The owner of Badanes Law Office, P.C., located in Northport, New York, primarily focuses on Matrimonial Law. The Suffolk County Lawyer has published several articles authored by him, and he has presented multiple Continuing Legal Education seminars for other attorneys. Many attorneys refer their cases to him. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Suffolk County Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, Suffolk County Matrimonial Committee, and Nassau County Matrimonial Committee. Currently, he serves as a Trustee and is the former President of the Northport-East Northport Board of Education. Before joining the Board of Education, he was a former Director on the Northport Chamber of Commerce.

He graduated in the top ten percent of his class from St. John’s School of Law, where he was also a member of the St. John’s Law Review. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as a computer programmer and consultant. He is admitted to practice in New York State, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

He resides in Northport with his wife and two children. His oldest daughter is employed as a proofreader, writer, and blogger, while his youngest daughter is completing her Master’s program in Education and will be teaching elementary school in the Boston area. His oldest son is a veterinarian living outside of the Philadelphia area, and he has one grandchild.

He is a dedicated fan of the New York Mets, New York Jets, and New York Knicks, and enjoys hiking and spending time at the beach.
