This session offers a comprehensive examination of the historical context, pivotal changes, and ongoing  challenges surrounding Title IX.

We will begin by tracing the roots of Title IX, illuminating its origins in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its subsequent enactment in 1972 as a landmark legislation prohibiting sex discrimination in education. Through a exploration of case studies and historical milestones, attendees will gain a deep understanding of the societal forces that propelled the creation of Title IX and its enduring impact on educational equity.

As we transition to the present day, our discussion will focus on the distinctive applications of Title IX in K-12 settings versus college environments. Through comparative analysis, we will unravel the complexities of Title IX enforcement, examining how its implementation differs across educational levels and the unique challenges each sector faces.

Furthermore, our presentation will illuminate recent changes in Title IX regulations, addressing controversies, interpretations, and their implications for educational institutions and students alike.
