This program will focus broadly on the current and future status of the carbon credit markets in the US and internationally. This will include discussions of (i) the existing legal frameworks applied in various jurisdictions, (ii) the differences between mandate markets and the voluntary markets, (iii) the verification protocols and how these typically operate, (iv) associated risks and liabilities of carbon credits and trading the what the future holds for regulations, (v) impacts of cross-border trade (using CBAM and other mechanisms) as examples, and (vi) association and treaty obligations (such as Article 6 obligations).
