Jim Holbein has decades of experience in blockchain and digital assets, trade negotiating, tariff nomenclature, and import compliance. Since joining Braumiller Law Group in 2020, Jim has become an expert on digital assets and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). He is a former Federal Executive with more than 32 years of government experience, who most recently was responsible for supervising a professional staff maintaining the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. at the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC). Jim managed the NAFTA trade dispute settlement process while at the U.S. Department of Commerce and serve as a diplomat and trade negotiator for the U.S. Department of State. Jim is the author of more than 50 books, articles and conference papers dealing with international trade, dispute settlement, and digital assets.

Starting with buying bitcoin in 2014, Justin delved deeply into the sector and ran a crypto mining business in 2017-2018. After learning crypto hardware from the ground up, Justin learned smart contract development and launched his current web3 consulting business in 2022. Focusing on leveraging onchain insights and helping his clients parse crypto data, Justin has a passion for the transparency and ownership paradigms enabled by blockchain technology, and is focused on the use cases enabled by smart contract based tokens and the tokenization of real world assets.
