Matthew has dedicated his professional career to the service of at-risk youth and families. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked for three years as a behavior support specialist and classroom aide in a group home environment. During law school, he clerked with the Oregon Department of Justice, Child Advocacy Section. Upon graduation and admission to the Oregon Bar, Matthew was appointed Assistant Attorney General in the Child Advocacy Section, where he represented the Oregon Department of Human Services statewide for seven years, litigating cases involving abused and neglected children. In 2021, he was selected to serve on the Multnomah County family law bench as a Juvenile Hearings Referee and Judge Pro Tem and continues to preside over juvenile dependency and delinquency matters.
